One of the most important steps for maintaining healthy skin is to protect it from the damaging UV rays of the sun Right from my teens, I have been very passionate about skincare and the one product that has been consistent in my skincare routine from my teens to my 40s has been a sunscreen.
Earlier, sunscreens were just about SPF though now, we know that only high SPF is not enough to offer complete sun protection. That is why, despite using sunscreen regularly, I got freckles and sun spots. So what’s the solution? Would just one sunscreen offer complete protection from UVA, UVB rays, Infra-Red (IR) rays and Visible Light? YES! The Dermafique’s Soleil Defense Sunscreen is one that does the job! Read on to know why I call it the Best sunscreen.
About the Soleil Defense Sunscreen
Our Suncare System is powered by the revolutionary Full Light Technology that targets 360° Sun Spectrum to shield the skin from the solar aggression of Visible Light, Infra Red, UVA and UVB. The Soleil Defense formulation is a multi-faceted system:
- UVA & UVB photo stable filters neutralise free radicals.
- Inhibits mitochondrial ROS production caused by IR radiation.
- Protects from persistent pigmentation (sun spots) with PA++.
- Cytoprotective action shields from Visible Light
Dermafique Soleil Defense [All Matte] Sunscreen SPF 50, PA++, RSF 90.
Price ₹979 / 30g. Available here.
Formulated for Normal to Oily skin, this matte sunscreen is fragrance free and offers protection from Visible Light, IR and UV rays. It is an oil-in-water emulsion that comes packaged in a pump bottle which dispenses small quantities of the product so that there is no wastage.
The sunscreens I used during my teens would give me a weird greyish-white cask and feel heavy and sticky on my skin. This one blends very easily and, true to name, gives a matte finish with zero white cast! Super comfortable to wear, what impressed me most was how weightless and non-sticky it felt as compared to most other sunscreens – absolutely perfect for the hot and humid Indian weather conditions. Besides that, it forms a smooth base for makeup thus playing the role of a primer as well. Great for people with combination / oily skin as well as those who are out in the sun for longer duration.
Dermafique Soleil Defense Gel Creme SPF, 30 PA++
Price ₹749 / 50gm. Available here.
Formulated for all skin types, this lightweight gel-creme sunscreen is an oil-in-water emulsion that is packaged with a pump to help dispense the right amount of product without wastage. Just like the All Matte variant, this one too gives complete sun protection against UVA + UVB + IR + Visible Light.
I like that it has a very mild, pleasant fragrance and a gel-creme texture that gives a dewy (but not shiny) finish and no white cast. One unique thing that I noticed is a cooling sensation when I applied this sunscreen. After application, my skin felt hydrated. Once it settles into the skin, this sunscreen forms a great base for makeup. If your skin is on the drier side or if you have moderate sun exposure daily, then this sunscreen is a good choice.
To Sum It Up
Both the Dermafique Soleil Defense sunscreens offer complete sun protection and are great for the Indian weather. I love that they feel so weightless on the skin and the fact that they don’t pill up when applied over other skincare products. The zero white cast is the icing on the cake. I loved using the All Matte variant for the hot humid monsoon days and for the days when weather app reporting high UV index. Now that the winters are here and when the weather is cooler and drier, the hydrating Gel-Creme variant is the perfect choice.
