The food themed boxes from Memebox have had a consistently good track record and having missed out on the Superfoods box, I certainly didn’t want to miss the Green Foods box. Especially after reading rave reviews of the Broccoli ampoule and toner that they had sent out in the Superfoods box, I had high expectations from the Green Foods box that they launched “in celebration of National Vegetarian Day”. Did the contents live up to my expectations? Read on….

Please note the mention of green fruits and veggies that I have highlighted. And the mention of “eat your super greens”. We shall come back to that soon….

PRIMARY RAW SEOUL DO YOU ORIGINAL SOY MILK FACIAL CREAM

The first product in the box sticks to the theme of Green Foods since soy definitely is a green food. I love the packaging of this product, the box comes housed in a cotton bag and also has a lovely spatula for scooping out the product. The cream itself is really lightweight and hydrating, sinks in immediately AND smells AMAZING!!!
Besides soy bean extracts and soy milk ferments, the cream also has rice water, galactomyces and other grain extracts. I have loads of creams waiting for their turn and since the expiry date for this facial cream is 2017, I will stash it for later use.
SOLUCION 9 AZTEC THERAPY SHAMPOO
This shampoo apparently gets it’s inspiration from the beauty secrets of Ancient Aztecs. It has a blend of 9 special HERBS – espinosilla, jojoba oil, nettle, ortiguilla, aloe vera, rosemary, chamomile and citrus – that help to soothe the scalp and strengthen the hair. I really wonder what is so exceptional about this shampoo that it is priced at $68!!!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t this box claim to have green FRUITS and VEGGIES? So what is this “herb-infused” shampoo doing here? Agreed, it sounds promising but it doesn’t have green foods in it.
DERMA:B FRESH MOISTURE BODY LOTION

Not only has Memebox sent out only 5 products in this box, this one isn’t even full sized! It is a 50 ml travel sized sample. The body lotion is “infused with green tea, peppermint, bergamot and ginger in a refreshing HERBAL blend”.
Herbal again. Did Memebox forget that the theme of this box was GREEN FOODS and not Herbal Cosmetics? All of the above ingredients can be classified as “herbs” with the exception of ginger, which is a veggie, but not green. I am sooooo annoyed!
WILLSPA TOUCH AROMA THERAPY ROLL-ON OIL
Randomly selected from Chill Out and Breath Easy, I got the Chill Out one which is a blend of jojoba seed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary leaf oil, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil etc. Where are the green foods may I ask? With the exception of the Soy cream, this box is just a version 2 of the Herbal Cosmetics box!
TOSOWOONG ALOE WHITENING ESSENCE
Ok, Aloe Vera is green. But it is a green PLANT! Not a FOOD! Is this a super green that you can eat? No, right? Why couldn’t they have given the Broccoli ampoule?
Anyway, this soothing, cooling essence replenishes the moisture in the skin and brightens it. It has a watery texture and gets absorbed quickly. I shall use this once my Eon Wheatgerm essence gets over.
PRICE
The Green Foods box was priced at $29 + $8 for standard shipping (approx ₹2350). The Mumbai Customs department, which these days has been charging me duty on each and every box irrespective of whether it came individually or in a bundle, by snail mail or express shipping, charged me ₹324 as customs duty bringing the total to ₹2674. The box apparently has a value of $145 but Memebox has been known to inflate the product prices somewhat.
MY OPINION
While this box does have a decent value for money, I am totally dissatisfied with it because, with the exception of the Soy cream, there are NO GREEN FOOD products in it!!! I was expecting avocado, kiwi, spinach, broccoli, kale, lettuce or even okra somewhere in the ingredients. What is got instead are rosemary, chamomile, peppermint… all herblog! Why Memebox???? If I could return this box and ask for a refund, I totally would. Such a disappointment….
Oh, and to add to the disappointment, guess what I “won” in the Golden Ticket? Yup, a $3 off code. No surprises there since almost all bloggers have been getting just that. And what’s worse, even the Dirty Gal box that also got delivered today, has the same code in that Golden Ticket!!! What is Memebox up to, I wonder…
