European beauty brand, BeYu Cosmetics, launched in India last month with a makeup workshop featuring their celebrity makeup artist Tom Strohmetz. As a beauty brand, BeYu’s tries to encourage girls to be themselves, to celebrate their uniqueness and express their personality through their makeup without blindly following global trends. Their vast range of products and plethora of shades and textures stands testimony to this philosophy. I have been trying out four of the products from BeYu Cosmetics and here are my thoughts on them…

BeYu Cosmetics has a vast range of products – from foundations with different coverage levels and finishes to lipsticks in varying textures and shades to primers – they have it all. And all of it is paraben-free, cruelty-free and fragrance-free. Considering that it is a drugstore brand, the prices are a bit on the higher side.
I received the following products from BeYu to try out:
- Color Catch Eye Palette
- Black Mirror Eye Liner
- Hydro Star Volume Lipstick
- Cashmere Matte Lip Color
Here’s a look at each of them…
BeYu Color Catch Eye Palette – ₹ 1,000
The BeYu Cosmetics Color Catch Eye Palette is an eyeshadow quad with shades that can be used to create different eye looks. The quad has a mix of matte, satin and shimmer shades and the shadows can be used dry as well as wet. The shadows are quite soft and blend easily but aren’t very pigmented as you will see in the swatch picture at the end of the post. They create just a sheer wash of colour on the eyes unless used over primer which does make the shades pop a bit. I guess the shades would look more intense when applied with a wet brush, but I didn’t try them wet.
BeYu Black Mirror Eye Liner – ₹1,000
While this is truly expensive for an eye liner, it is quite fabulous too. True to it’s name, it gives a shiny black finish that dries and sets quickly and doesn’t fade or budge all day. It is very pigmented and one stroke gives opaque coverage. I love the ultra thin brush that gives you complete control over how thick or thin you want the line to be.
BeYu Hydro Star Volume Lipstick – ₹1,050
This has got to be my favourite product from among the four BeYu products I have tried. The Hydro Star Volume lipstick is very comfortable to wear, has a lovely satin finish and doesn’t dry out the lips at all thanks to the Hyaluronic Acid, brown algae extract and Vitamin E in it. It lasts-for about 3-4 hours and will see you through coffee and a light snack but needs to be reapplied after eating anything greasy.
BeYu Cashmere Lip Color Matt – ₹1,150
The BeYu Cashmere Lip Color Matt has a lovely creamy, mousse-like texture, is very pigmented and is quite long lasting too. I love the fact that it doesn’t dry the lips like most other matte liquid lipsticks do. It isn’t totally transfer-proof and fades from the inner rim when you eat something yet is very comfortable to wear and feels weightless on the lips.

While the BeYu Cosmetics aren’t available online, they will be available at stores like Central, Lifestyle, Health n Glow and NewU. The brand, along with it’s Indian partner Kaunis will also be opening stores in several cities across India.
At the launch event, I did try out some of the other products from BeYu and these are the ones that I really liked and am surely going to get:
