Just in time for the festival of colours, I received the March Vellvette box. Tied with a multi-coloured ribbon this month, there were, as promised, two bonus products as well.
Meiji Amino Collagen: Featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, this product is the secret of the amazing skin Japanese women have and contains 71% amino peptides. However, this wonder product is made from fish collagen so it’s a big no no for a vegetarian like me. This one’s going to be gifted away to a non-veg friend.
The Remy Laure Eye Contour Relaxing Mask and Eye Gel seem very promising. Though I got the Ofra eye gel last month and despite using it daily, I’ve hardly made a dent in it, I’m very eager to try out this one too. I’ll surely use the eye mask for some post-Holi eye pampering.
There’s also Lush Dream Cream, a multi-purpose skin hydrating product. Though I’m happy to receive this, it feels a bit repetitive since we got the Figs and Rouge balm last month and I also ordered more of it. Anyway, it’s going to be handy while travelling and especially for carrying inflight.
The burst of colour in the Holi special box comes from the Mary Kay signature lip, eye and cheek colour. These are one time use samples, 9 eyeshadows, 5 lipsticks and 1 blush. I have never used Mary Kay products before and for some reason, have never been inclined to try them out either. However, this is a nice way of trying out the formulations of these lipsticks and eyeshadows. Though I don’t know how I’ll manage to get the blush onto the blush brush from that tiny little sample patch!
The second bonus product in my box is the Ofra eye makeup remover. Perfect timing I must say, coz my Clinique Take The Day Off eye makeup remover is almost over. This one claims to be hypoallergenic and suitable for contact lens wearers too. Will review it once I’ve used it a few times.
Though, personally, I feel that the Dream Cream and the Eye gel are a bit repititive, I’m quite happy with this month’s box. I just wish that the Amino Collagen would have been vegetarian so that I could have used it and I’m not too eager on Mary Kay, but lets see how these samples fare. Also, I feel, that out of all these samples, they could have given a hair care product (for post Holi damaged hair) or a new high tech sunscreen since the summer’s here in full blast.
But overall, a box that offers great value for money! What have you got in your boxes?
