I have recently been controlling my makeup purchases because part of me has been feeling guilty for buying and hoarding so much makeup when I barely use any. I simply can’t go on a strict shopping ban so I try and just control what I buy and not go overboard (which is actually quite subjective). And I also believe in Karma, so I feel, this Clinique Season’s Worth Of Pretty Palette that my friend sent from Canada recently, is a reward for being a “good-girl”…hehehe. A family friend has come down from Canada and his daughters, knowing my love for all things makeup, sent this pretty palette for me.
The pretty palette also has very pretty packaging, shiny silver with matte silver flowers printed on it and CLINIQUE embossed on it. Inside, it has a 6 inch wide mirror, a lip brush, a dual-ended eyeshadow sponges and a blush brush. There is also a little booklet with face charts and step by step instructions to create looks ranging from natural to glam to dramatic.
Here’s what’s inside the Clinique Season’s Worth Of Pretty Palette:
5 Butter Shine Lipsticks – Crushed Grape, Pink Goddess, Parisian Red, Adore You and Ambrosia.
4 Color Surge Eyeshadow Soft Shimmer – Like Mink Duo, Polar Blue Quad, Pure Cocoa (limited edition shade) and Plum Potion Duo.
1 Color Surge Eyeshadow Super Shimmer – Pink Chocolates Quad.
3 Blushing Blush Powder Blush – Pink Love, Precious Posy and Sunset Glow.
As you can see, the colours look really dark in the pan but are quite sheer when you swatch them. The Butter Shine lipsticks are very hydrating and creamy and have moderate pigmentation. They also have a lovely sheen. I love the texture of Clinique’s Long Last lipstick (read my review of the Long Last lipstick in Blushing Nude here.) and the texture of these Butter Shine lippies is reall nice too, though of course, these won’t be long lasting.
The eyeshadow colours are really pretty and very wearable on medium skin tones. the pigmentation is moderate so there’s no real fear of going overboard. The purple and the blue would also look lovely as liners. The texture is silky smooth, they don’t look chalky at all and there’s no fallout 🙂
I have used, and loved the Clinique Cream blush in Glow Blush (click on name to read review) and these three colours are beautiful. They don’t have shimmer but aren’t really matte either. I would say they look quite glow-y.
So, I’m loving this palette and cant wait to try out different looks with it (though I am not very adventurous when it comes to my makeup looks… I prefer to go for tried and tested). Now, I know that this palette isnt from a very recent holiday collection, but the colours are gorgeous. And after all, with gifts, it is always the thought that counts 🙂
What do you think of this Clinique Palette?
