MAC Select MoistureCover NC35 – The Best Concealer For Dark Circles.

Concealing my dark circles has always been my bete noire and no matter how well I feel I had concealed them, they always showed up as deep, dark hollows in the photographs. None of my three concealers, MAC Studio Sculpt, MAC Studio Finish and Revlon PhotoReady, helped in solving that problem, neither individually, nor in various combinations. While casually browsing through the MAC store one day, the SA suggested that I should give the MoistureCover a try, especially since my undereye area is so dehydrated.

What MAC says: A luxuriously blendable moisturising concealer in a tube with built-in doe-foot applicator. Goes on exactly where you want it: blends in for a natural satin-smooth ultra-moisturised finish. Layers up for added coverage. Line-softening, skin-perfecting. The Pros select for under-eyes and delicate skin.

Unlike it’s siblings from the “Studio” line, the Select MoistureCover comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. Just dab on where needed and blend with a brush, or, as I like to do, with fingers. I’m anyway, not much of a “brush” person and prefer to blend my foundation and concealer with my fingers. Don’t know why but I feel that gives me a better, more natural finish. Perhaps that’s because the warmth of the fingers helps the product in blending better?

The texture of this concealer is like a highly-pigmented foundation. It doesn’t feel as thick and heavy as the “Studio”concealers and is also much easier to blend / pat in. The Select MoistureCover also lives up to it’s claim of being moisturising and doesn’t look cakey on my undereyes, nor does it settle into my fine lines. And perhaps, because it is moisturising and easily blended, it ensures that the dark circles are concealed well and don’t show up in photographs.

Left: Before applying concealer. You can see the dark circles and sun spots. Right: After applying concealer.

You can see from these pictures how well and how smoothly the concealer has blended and how even the skintone looks. It hasn’t settled into any fine lines either. This is the concealer I had used in my EOTD here.

Can you see the difference? In the picture on the left (click here for full post), I have used MAC Studio Sculpt and then layered Revlon PhotoReady over it. It looked fine in the mirror but can you see how the hollows show up in the photograph?

In the picture on the right, I have worn only this MAC Select MoistureCover and the hollows aren’t nearly as visible.  You can check that post for pictures in yellow light as well. I had thought NC35 would be too light for my skin but the SA was absolutely right. It is perfect for me.

Priced at Rs. 1400 for a 5ml tube, it is in keeping with MAC’s pricing. But I really like the way it conceals my dark circles as well as moisturises the dry under-eye area so this one is definitely for keeps.

Have you used the MAC Select MoistureCover? What’s your favourite concealer for dark circles?

  5. Dark circles are so difficult to deal with I hate using concealers but don’t have a choice. I have used Inglot one which over time needs touchup an settles in fines lines. I was thinking of trying kryolan one. This one seems works well for you.
