The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream Review and Giveaway

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream review and giveaway

There are times when all you want is a simple, effective,  no-fuss moisturising cream without any high claims. And without any anti-aging ingredients too, incase you need to use it for the kids, as was the case with me recently. During my holiday in Spain, the harsh sunlight combined with chilly winds wrecked havoc on our skin. The boys’ cheeks became red and rough and needed something gentle, soothing and moisturising. The only non-anti-aging product I had with me for the face was The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. Here are my thoughts on this cream…..and a giveaway too!

What Is The Packaging Like?

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream review and giveaway

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream comes in a round, pale pink plastic tub with a black screw-on cover. Under the cover is another lid to prevent product spillage but I have noticed some of the product settling on the threads of the rim despite this cover. Since it is made of plastic, it is very travel friendly though not very hygienic since you have to dip your fingers into it. You can, of course, use a spatula to get the product out.

Who Should Use It? When To Use It?

Dry skin, sensitive skin, skin experiencing wind burn….with the exception of oily and combination skins, almost everyone else can use this cream. Even kids. And if you have combination skin with very dry cheeks, you can use this on the cheeks too. It is a lightweight, moisturising cream. Simple. Very gentle, very effective and like I mentioned, soothing as well on sensitive skin. It softened the dry, rough cheeks and helped smoothen and moisturise them.

Since it is  a moisturiser, it goes on after cleansing, toning and the serum (if you use any). You can use it morning and night or just once a day or even 3 times a day if your skin requires it.

Ingredients

Aqua/Water (Solvent), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emollient), Diheptyl Succinate (Skin Conditioning Agent – Emollient), Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 (Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Potassium Cetyl Phosphate (Surfactant/Emulsifying Agent), Cetyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Cetyl Dimethicone (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Polyacrylamide (Film Former), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil/Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil (Emollient), Carbomer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Tapioca Starch Polymethylsilsesquioxane (Absorbent/Anticaking Agent), C13-14 Isoparaffin (Solvent), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Caprylhydroxamic Acid (Chelating Agent), Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer (Film Former), Benzyl Benzoate (Fragrance Ingredient), Laureth-7 (Emulsifier), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Hydroxycitronellal (Fragrance Ingredient), Myristyl Alcohol (Emulsifier/Emollient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Stearyl Alcohol (Emollient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Cinnamyl Alcohol (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), CI 14700/Red 4 (Colorant), CI 19140/Yellow 5 (Colorant)

I wish every brand listed out the ingredients the way they are listed on The Body Shop’s UK website! The function of each ingredient is mentioned and that is so helpful!

While there are some really good ingredients in this cream, there also are some that I dislike – phenoxyethanol and silicones. There aren’t any parabens or mineral oil, thankfully, though it does have added fragrance which lingers for quite a while!

The Good?

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream review and giveaway

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream has a lovely light texture that can melts into the skin. It feels like a really thick lotion…or a really thin cream, and instantly moisturises the skin making it soft and smooth. Though it has fragrance added to it (and not a faint one either), it is gentle enough for even sensitive skins and for the delicate skin of the children. It really, really helps hydrate very dry skin. I have even used it on the rough knees of my sports-loving boys and it does help in keeping them marginally softer.

The Not So Good

Since it is a moisture cream, it would be unfair to expect a matte look with it. So be prepared for a dewy look which can look shiny/oily if you sweat or have combination skin. That is perhaps the only con that I can think of other than the jar packaging. Also, the cream getting accumulated along the rim of the jar is a bit annoying since you have to clean it but other than that, I really can’t think of any cons.

Price

₹995 for 50ml

To Sum It Up

I think this is a cream that one must keep in the house for the days when the skin feels very dry or even for the kids in winter. You can think of it as a “cold cream” but without the mineral oil and parabens that all other drug store “cold creams” have. To be honest, this cream doesn’t make any tall claims; it just promises to put moisture back into your skin gently. And it actually does that. Now, how can you fault that? Yes, I am not too fond of the fragrance but others might like it. And you might think it is expensive but it does have some really good ingredients and is cruelty-free as well.

First of all, I’m very much concerned about skincare because I believe that beautiful skin is the secret of everything. The Body Shop is my favorite brand. I love using their products. We are in the monsoon season and a good moisturiser is very essential for this period. The above pictures of this moisturiser tempts me a lot, to use it. I’ve not yet tried this product. So, I’d love to win & try out this Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. Keeping my fingers crossed 🙂

  8. Hey dollie!
Great review I really have heard a lot about the body shop products but never got hand on them as it’s not available neither a store nor at malls where I live.so it’s kind of to explore brand for me whenever I plan to go out of my place to some big cities like mumbai. I am really suffering from skin dry patches, it was the time few months back when I delivered my twin babies in January when it was too cold.I wasn’t able to look after my skin as much I used to do earlier. So I developed these ugly patches on crease of my mouth both sides. This cream you have reviewed looks promising to return the Dew to my skin.I would really appreciate the effects and share them if I get a chance to win this.
    Lots of love
    Priyanka

In between the day cream and the night cream i somehow i could never really find a basic cream like this Vitamin E one that would simply provide adequate moisture. I’ve tried many but ended up getting a greasy face instead of a nourished looking one (not good at all :/) i’d love to try this since it can be used any time of day and is lightweight so it’ll be good for Delhi’s humid weather too i hope!

Thanx for the giveaway.. It sounds like a good product that would work for many!

  16. I would like to win this cream because i have very dry skin and neither of the moisturising creams that i have been using helps much . i have to apply raw milk every now and then on my face to keep the dryness away which is irritating sometimes. After reading your review i think the body shop cream is really gonna help. I would really love to try it. My very dry skin needs some good pampering. Thankyou for the giveaway 🙂
