The Body Shop recently launched a new range of 100% vegetarian, cruelty-free makeup which includes a cushion foundation, eyeshadow quads and matte liquid lipsticks. The Body Shop Down To Earth Eye Palette (as the quads are named) come in three shade variants – brown, blue and plum. While the plum was really tempting, I decided to go with the Brown palette because not only are the shades gorgeous, they are also very wearable on a daily basis. Read my review to know more about this utterly beautiful eyeshadow palette…

The Body Shop Down To Earth Eye Palette Brown
The shades in the Down to Earth Brown eye quad are inspired by nature (and named such too). I really like how the shades have been named, not just for these eye shadows but also for the liquid lipsticks (which I shall review soon).
The quad itself comes in a sleek, sturdy, glossy black case with a mirror on the underside of the lid. The case is housed in a sleeve that shows the colours of the eyeshadows inside as well as three different looks that you can create with them. For a makeup novice, this is really helpful.
The Body Shop is one brand that is known for it’s fair trade policy and the eyeshadows too, are formulated with Community Trade Babassu Oil, Marula Oil and Sesame Seed Oil that nourish the delicate skin on the eyelids while the colours make you look prettier. Another good thing is that they don’t have any petroleum or mineral oil and can be used by those who have sensitive skin too.
The other thing that I love about this quad is that the shades can be popped out. So if you have another quad and want to carry two shades from this one and two from the other, you can do that! Isn’t that so convenient?
The Body Shop has always impressed me with the texture of all it’s skincare products and the makeup lives up to the expectations too. The texture of these eyeshadows is very soft and buttery, silky smooth with an almost creamy feel, They have decent pigmentation and blend easily without much effort. The colour payoff varies according to the brushes used. There is no fallout either even with the dark shade!
Coming to the colours themselves, The Body Shop Down To Earth Eye Palette Brown has the following shades:
- Oregon Sunstone – a pretty, warm golden peach.
- Peru Clay – a matte, cool greyish-taupe (the least pigmented and barely shows up on my skin tone)
- Idaho Jasper – a neutral, satin dark brown.
- Sienna Dust – a beautiful, shimmery cool sand brown.
The kind of colour payoff you get with these eyeshadows depends on the kind of brushes you use. I used a flat brush to pack on the Oregon Sunset onto the eyelid and a fluffy brush to gently diffuse Idaho Jasper on the outer corner of my eyes and into the crease and this is how it looked…
I shall be doing a tutorial on this look shortly so that you can see this palette in action. Till then you can see how it actually looks on my eyelids in my last video here.
My Views
Creamy textures, beautiful shades, a good colour payoff and 100% vegetarian – The Body Shop Down To Earth Eye Palette Brown is great for everyday wear and for makeup novices who want to play it safe. The shimmers are very fine, not big and chunky bits of glitter and if you wear just a light wash of shade on the eyes, then it doesn’t even look very shimmery. I am very tempted to get the Plum palette too now.
