While the matte liquid lipstick trend has got everyone going gaga, I personally, have always preferred satin and glossy finishes to matte ones. Which is why I was really excited to try the new Oriflame Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel which come in 7 shades.
About the Oriflame Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel
Price ₹699 / 5ml. Available here.
“Super light liquid lipstick goes on like a gel with an ultra-smooth plexigloss finish in 8 intense shades. Non-sticky, extreme colour coverage. Glides on easily for super-slick lips with perfect colour clarity. Conditioning formula keeps lips feeling soft. “
I have already done a video review on the Oriflame Vinyl Gel with swatches of all the 7 shades. Here’s the video:
These vibrant liquid lipsticks have a gel-like texture, are non-sticky and non-gloopy and have good pigmentation. They aren’t totally opaque like matte liquid lipsticks though – it’s like the difference in opacity between a gel mask and a clay mask. They can be worn as a single layer for a tint of colour or can be layered to build up intensity. Either way, they feel very comfortable on the lips and look very pretty too.
The longevity is quite decent – lasts for about 4-5 hours depending on what you eat / drink. Of course, since they are glossy gels, they do transfer quite a bit too so you have to be careful around light coloured clothes. The Oriflame Vinyl Gel have a faint, pleasantly floral fragrance that doesn’t linger much.
Below are swatches of all the 7 shades followed by each shade and how it looks on me:
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Tangerine Tango
This is a milky peach that would look good only on very fair skintones. Or perhaps layered over a darker lipstick. Or maybe as a very light layer. On my NC42 skin though, it really doesn’t look nice. See for yourself…
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Malibu Bush
A very pretty shade, the perfect blend of pink and peach, this shade looked surprisingly nice on me. It would suit all skintones.
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Hot Flamingo
A very cool-toned, bright Barbie pink, I really thought Hot Flamingo would look horrid on me. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I applied it to my lips. Again, this shade would look good on almost all skin tones.
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Pink Mambo
Perhaps my favourite shade of the lot, Pink Mambo is a strawberry pink colour that looks gorgeous! Either as a single, light layer or as a double layer, it looks fabulous and along with the next shade, Sunset Burst, is great for a dull, grey monsoon day because it brightens up your face.
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Sunset Burst
Sunset Burst is a stunning coral-red shade that brightens up the face and looks great. It would look good on all skin tones and I love it!
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Magnetic Magenta
A very purply-pink, I had my doubts about how Magnetic Magenta would look on me. I was in for another pleasant surprise. Check out the video because I have shown how this looks as a single layer as well as a double layer.
Oriflame Vinyl Gel Purple Rumba
A true purple – no red or berry tones – while a beautiful colour, it was very intimidating too. I was actually scared to try this one out but applied it anyway for the swatches. And while it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would, it is a bit too bold a colour for me and I am not sure I can carry it off. Let me know what you think.
My Views
I love the Oriflame Vinyl Gels – with the exception of the shades Purple Rumba and Tangerine Tango – the texture, the pigmentation and finish are fabulous. I only wish there was a dusty rose kind of everyday shade or a chocolate brown in this collection. Nevertheless, the collection is quite nice and I highly recommend the shades Malibu Blush, Pink Mambo and Sunset Burst.
Let me know which shade you liked the most.
You look splendid in Purple..It is my fav shade too. Initially, I too was unsure but I just loved this one over mundane pinks, red and corals.!
I’m still not too sure about the purple.
